Some methods of working have to be organized
- who will be in charge of special topics: you follow this aspect while working on MOON
- your first impressions of MOON [short written statement]
MOON:
- Marco: Establishing an Identity [worksheet]
- groups: first chapter up to p. 26:
[1] Uncle Victor,
[2] Uncle Victor’s Suit,
[3] Books: numbers, function, meaning
[4]Marco’s mother: questions for Emily
Next week no lessons, but you’ve to read up to p. 76
- active reading required: notes, remarks, vocab, highlighted parts, etc.
- fill in handout “Street Life versus Life in central Park”
- start a reading log
A reading log contains information on different levels:
-
it helps you remember the course of the action
-
it illustrates aspects of the characters
-
it makes you aware of your role(s) as a reader within the langauge learning process
-
it can help you find and remember arguments when talking or writing about the novel
-
it contains your personal response: your difficulties, your (lack of) enjoyment (of certain passages or developments), your emotional involvement, associations with other texts (songs, films, novels) and with your own experiences
-
it should include additional information from web-pages or the Cornelsen website on Moon http://www.learnetix.de/cgi/WebObjects/MoonPalace.woa
In the holidays:
- time management makes life @school much easier: read as far as you can get, actively, please
- but don’t forget to enjoy the holidays nonetheless
